A time to spend and a time to scrounge
There’s a time to scrounge, and a time to spend. They must be readily interchangeable, switched out at a moments notice, and knowing when to apply them is critical. Don’t spend on what you can scavenge (within good conscience…no stealing!), but spend when it will save you time and eventually money. That’s all for today.
The picture below is a piece that I did as an undergraduate at the University of Hawaii at Manoa- thank you Rick Mills for being an amazing professor and adviser. I owe a great deal of my success to his dedication as a teacher. The piece is about my frequent battles with insomnia. I’m grateful for my insomnia because of the ideas that are cultivated during those restless hours early in the morning. I’ve been getting up earlier these days and trying to get to sleep earlier as well, but I’ve found that my brain keeps running as it would, and sleeping earlier means that I just dream the thoughts I’d be having anyway…and that I have to get up in the middle of the night to get them down!
